Attorney Derek Chen created Chen Law, LLC in 2021 to bring a fresh perspective to representing clients in probate, estate planning, adoption, conservatorship, guardianship issues, and personal injury claims.

Prior to creating Chen Law, Derek clerked for the Alabama Secretary of State as well as the Tuscaloosa District Attorney's Office. He also previously interned for the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and the Michigan House of Representatives.

Derek received his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the Cumberland School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Derek is a member of the American Bar Association, Alabama State Bar, Birmingham Bar Association, and Alabama Association for Justice. In his free time, he is a member of the Vestavia Civitan Club, Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce, and Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce.
